Research Library & Research Requests

With over a thousand volumes, this small but focused collection is an excellent staff resource, rich in information pertaining to all aspects of the Town of York Historical Society’s mandate. The library also contains a number of rare books relating to the early postal system in Upper Canada and some indexed historical and philatelic periodicals. Vertical files of research on postal history and the early history of York/Toronto and its denizens are also located on site. The collection is constantly being enriched through acquisitions and donations.

You can search titles online via LibraryThing. Access to our library for research is by appointment only. If you have a question about our titles or a simple research question, please contact us.

We also offer research services. Those who have requests are asked to email our Museum Coordinator at rebecca@tos1stpo.com. The first hour of preliminary research is complimentary. If a more in-depth search is required we charge a fee of $20/hour for members and $25/hour for non-members.
