As part of Culture Days 2022, Toronto’s First Post Office & Town of York Historical Society invites you to take “a stroll through history,” as you visit the most historic spots in the Town of York and learn how the City of Toronto got its start! Tour through the original ten square city blocks that were instrumental in developing the Town of York and the stories behind some key contributing individuals. Beginning on historic Adelaide Street East, each location is equipped with a video of photographs and narration provided by the Town of York Historical Society’s Museum Coordinator which will allow you to visualize how the architecture and city has changed since the late 18th century. This self-guided walking tour can be enjoyed at your own pace and catered to your interests by choosing a few locations to visit or journeying through the entire tour. The tour will be available beginning September 23rd through October 16th through Toronto’s First Post Office History Pin account. We hope you enjoy your visit back in time to the small Town of York!
